Day 31: Letting Go so that We Can Listen

Wow! God has helped us to travel all the way to
DAY 31
in this #31Days of Listening with Chronic Illness!

Along the way, we've listened to find peace,
to find rest,
to hear the voices of those around us,
and to seek to hear our Lord's voice more clearly.

I've been surprised at the remembering
that God has stirred up,
at the ways He spoke in the past,
and showed us HIS story
in the midst of my own.

But at the end of this month,
I've heard Him speaking
to me, a nudging
that has continued from the very beginning
of these travels.

 To truly hear HIS voice,
there is only one way
that opens my heart
to the crystal-clear words
that HE wants to bring:

I must continue to let go of the plans
and the ways that I set up for myself
along the road of this life.

Only in resting myself, daily,
in the HOPE of His Care,
and the Plans of HIS heart,
will I hear the
NEW,
and see the BEAUTY
that HE wants to bring now to this Season.

Have you heard Him calling to you this month?
In the letting go of your own efforts,
Jesus will bring you salvation.
And in the settling down into HIM,
you will find new strength.

My heart rises up with you as we pray
that our Lord
will help us
in this journey
of learning
to let go
and listen to Him.

I have been so honored to have you join me this month!
To say thank you for being so faithful,
I'm partnering with Cindee Snider Re,
for a give-away of her great book

Anyone who leaves a comment this week on my blog
will automatically be entered to win 1 of 2 books

I will announce the winner this coming weekend,
November 6.

One more time,

  1. I have definitely heard God's story in the midst of your own, Bettie. A beautiful story of His grace, hope, and strength in the midst of your pain and weakness. I'm praying with you that "our Lord will help us in this journey of learning to let go and listen to Him." The song, too, really touches my heart. Congratulations on completing 31 days! I admire your perseverance and determination, especially knowing you have been so weary. Blessings and hugs to you!

    1. Thank you Trudy, for all of your encouragement! You surely have the gift of compassion and help with your words. And, I am so glad that you are praying with me to continue learning to let go and listen. It's not always easy, is it? But He has so much to say to us when we are ready to hear! May Jesus bless you greatly my friend! xoxo

  2. Bettie, this is a beautiful ending to a truly inspirational series, but it also signals a beginning of stepping deeper into close intimacy with our Lord. The kind that can on!y come from attentive listening and obedient resting in Him. You have done that so well, given us all a great example to emulate as God has breathed His grace through every word shared here.
It's been an honour and a privilege to undertake this journey with you. You have inspired me to keep going when fatigue threatened to derail me. I know these are words I need to take to heart:
"In the letting go of your own efforts,
    Jesus will bring you salvation.
And in the settling down into HIM,
    you will find new strength"
Wise words to heed! Well done, my sweet friend. Your faithful perseverance has borne beautiful fruit. I shall miss these daily outpourings and connection points, but we both need a break and extra rest! Gentle hugs to you. I'm so proud of all you've achieved. Xoxo

    1. Dear Joy, I have been so blessed to have you walking alongside me, and sharing this adventure that God opened up! Your perseverance to keep peering into God's JOY has helped me to keep my focus attuned to Him in the listening. God has let our paths overlap in amazing ways. But yes, you are right, this is just the beginning on this new portion of the path of intimacy with Him. I'm thankful that He knows how to take us on. And He does know how to give us the rest that we so deeply need for at least a few days! :-) Thank you for your encouragement along the way! Gentle hugs to you across the miles. May God bless you and your family. xoxo

I am glad that you were encouraged by this series; I am so grateful that God helped me to keep going with all of the writing! It was definitely quite an undertaking. So I understand if you weren't able to write every day. But I was blessed by all of the ways that you did share, and bring encouragement to so many others in places of ministry. --Blessings!
