25 Days of Christmas~Day 7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called  Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

This child, this tiny baby in the manger, He was given to all of us.

What do we see when we look at this small image?

Do we see the One who will rule the world?

Our memories are stirred when we come to the manger every year. . . .

Over on Instagram @HopeHeartHome,
the prompt is "Hope"
for today's #HolyHaiku.

And my heart was set to remember
a surprise sleigh ride that was a gift
from my husband several years ago.

Into a dark time, his gift
stirred an even deeper gift
of hope for my heart:

My heart is praying for you today,
to be blessed with
HOPE
from the heart of Jesus

and LIGHT
on the darkest
of days, because
HE IS OUR PEACE.

    1. Dear Cheryl,
Yes, it remains as one of my all-time favorite gifts from him! And to think, on the day he asked me if I wanted to go do something "fun" (he was trying to surprise me, but yet be sensitive to my needs,) I almost said that I was too tired. I didn't have chronic illness then, but I was walking with a family member who was in a very dark place then, and felt so burdened by it all. Isn't the Lord so sweet to give us just the encouragement we need, even when we aren't aware of it? Blessings and Prayers for you too my sweet friend! xo

  4. Dear Bettie, I love your sweet haiku and your thoughtful and thought-provoking reflection. It helps us to see into the heart of Christmas and beyond, with great relevance for how we live in the light of Jesus' coming to earth. I'm delighted to hear you've experienced an actual sleigh ride. What a great gift from your beloved husband and what an adventure to share with your grandchildren! May you be blessed with rest, joy and peace as you share these treasures with us. Love and hugs! xoxo

    1. Dear Joy, Oh yes I am so glad that I said "yes" when my husband offered a surprise for me that day! It is such a treasured memory now, and the Hope that the Lord stirred in me then is revived every time I pause and remember it. Isn't that the joy of this Advent time--His Hope is stirred in us every time we pause and remember? Thank you for your sweet encouragement my friend. I am praying that same blessing of rest, joy and peace for you! Love & Hugs! xoxo
