The Secret of His Presence

My thoughts this week
have been filled with eternity.
A dear friend just left this earth,
and now there is a void in my heart
and in the hearts of all who loved her.

Are you missing someone dear?

Can we face sorrow together?

I Miss You

Your death leaves a hole

You have found the secret place

But my heart still burns

 --Bettie Gilbert

And while my heart still grieves,
there is a hope that goes deeper
than any pain could touch,
A waiting for the time
our paths will connect again.

My dear one is at the feet of Jesus
Her pain no longer consumes
Her soul has found relief
And her body is set free.

Heaven of Love

The secret of God

Rests in His Heaven of Love

My soul burns to go

--Bettie Gilbert

I pray you find the comfort that Jesus brings
Sharing in our sorrows
And bearing all our grief.

    1. Yes, she passed away last Friday. I had only reconnected with her this past Summer, after almost 39 years of losing touch. I am so grateful for the time God gave us to catch up, and that is a comfort to my heart now also. And, yes, He does bring us sweet treasures from the hard times. Blessings to you!

  6. Bettie,
I am so sorry for your loss of your friend! But your words in her honor are so lovely. Sharing our sorrows with others is sometimes the strength we need and even though it feels vulnerable, I think opening our hearts when we're grieving may be what brings us healing and peace. xoxo

    1. Dear Valerie, Your words are so kind. And I think you are right, that in the sharing we find a measure of healing and peace. It's that "bearing one another's burdens" thought, isn't it? Thank you for your encouragement, dear friend! xoxo

  7. BettieG, death of the believer is joy for those who have departed this earthly space but leaves us with a yearning, doesn't it? I like your words.

  9. Dear Bettie, I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's death, but I'm awed by the beautiful words arising from the ashes of this sad loss. Your poetry is lovely in itself and a sweet tribute as well. Sometimes the most meaningful things come to us at times of great adversity and loss. Thinking of you as you grieve. May your memories sustain you. Gentle hugs, love and prayers. xoxo

    1. Dear Joy, Oh I appreciate your gentle hugs so much, Dear Friend! Yes, I shared these poems with my friend's brother, and I pray that he felt a measure of the comfort that God gave to me as I wrote them. While I do not understand the timing of her death, and I'm so sad that we missed all those years while we had lost touch, still I am so very thankful that God opened the way for us to find each other again, and share during the last 6 months. And I am longing even more for that blessed reunion in Heaven. May you find God's comfort during these hard days that you are walking through now, my friend! Hugs and Love and Prayers! xoxo
